How we verify contractors

Dry Heat Yards only lists landscaping businesses that hold an active Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) license. Here is our process:

  1. Research. We find Arizona landscaping companies from public sources, including the company's own website and business listings.
  2. License match. We match each business by name or registered DBA against the ROC's official Current Active Contractor Licenses list (most recent file: Nov 2, 2026). Landscape contractors commonly hold a CR-21, R-21 or C-21 license.
  3. No match, no contractor listing. If we can't match a business to an active license, we don't list it as a contractor. Yard maintenance crews are the only exception, and they're labeled separately (see below).
  4. Re-checks. We re-check listings against new ROC files and remove businesses whose licenses lapse.

Yard maintenance crews

In Arizona, a gardener doing only lawn, garden, shrub and tree maintenance doesn't need a contractor license. We list these crews in a separate Yard maintenance only section on city pages. They are not license-verified, and they shouldn't be hired for installs, hardscape, irrigation systems or any job of $1,000 or more. Read our guide →

What "verified" means and doesn't mean

A verified badge means the business matched an active ROC license on the date shown. It does not mean we endorse the company, inspected its work, or checked its insurance. Always get written quotes and check references, and confirm the license on the ROC site before you hire.

See something wrong?

If a listing has outdated information, or you believe a license has lapsed, let us know and we'll review it.
